In distant lands, the Europeans set their sight,
A quest for power, wealth, and divine right.
They journeyed to a land unknown and new,
With hearts filled with greed, their intentions askew.
The Africans lived in harmony and peace,
Their own spiritual practices brought them release.
But the colonizers came with twisted minds,
To strip away their beliefs, the sacred binds.
They preached of a Savior, a Jesus divine,
Yet in their hands, the chains did entwine.
How could they teach of liberation and grace,
While shackling the natives, a cruel embrace?
King Leopold, the harbinger of despair,
Commissioned his men, a solemn affair.
To rid them of their gods, their spirits free,
And replace it with a faith of blind loyalty.
Christianity taught obedience to the masters,
A life of suffering, with hopes of hereafter.
Forgiveness preached, even in the face of pain,
But the oppressors showed no mercy, no refrain.
Oh, the irony of their grand design,
Slaves dreaming of heaven where all souls entwine,
Colonizers denying their slaves even a seat in their home,
while promising a heaven where well all sit around the throne.
Centuries have passed, yet the scars remain,
Africa’s riches, a relentless bane.
The largest Christian population is the title it now bears,
But the wealth is elusive, lost while saying their prayers
In this modern era, the world stands in awe,
As Africa’s plight, its people’s flaw,
How can it be, the world’s top exporter of faith,
While its own sons and daughters suffer beneath?
The British, colonizers of great fame,
Hold vast gold reserves, a coveted claim.
Without a single mine on their own land,
While Africa’s resources slip through its hand.
The truth unveiled, the agenda exposed,
Christianity used as a weapon imposed,
To steal, to kill, and destroy in its wake,
Leaving Africa wounded, its spirit at stake.
Let us question the past, the legacy we inherit,
Seek truth beyond veils, without fear or merit.
For true liberation lies in knowledge untold,
A journey of awakening, for the brave and bold.
It’s time to reclaim what was taken away,
To honor our roots, in the light of each day.
For in unity and awareness, we shall rise,
Breaking the chains, unveiling the lies.
So let us stand together, hand in hand,
As Africa’s children, we shall reclaim our land.
In love, in justice, our voices shall resound,
With wisdom and strength, a new era is found.
